strummin

shirt: thrifted ralph laren
short: thrifted
braided belt: thrifted
smoking flats: old navy

I've been playing my guitar again! I used to play a lot in high school, but when I moved to Charlottetown for college I never brought it with me. I never had time for it during school anyway. I picked it up a couple times since then I never got back into it on the same level. I fixed her up with some pretty new strings and that seems to be the ticket. Now anything I play sounds nice!

I had a yard sale with some pals yesterday and took these instagrams to entice people to come. You may remember a few months ago, when I donated huge bags of clothing to Value Village. It wasn't painful or difficult at all, I had no trouble getting rid of them. The stuff I chose to save for the yard sale has a little more sentimental value. I wasn't really concerned with making money, (as much as I appreciated it!) but seeing the clothes I loved go to new homes. As sad as I was to get rid of the leather jacket I used to wear daily, it was nice to see it go home with a woman who said her teenage daughter would be SO happy to have it. Similar with the mother of a Michael Jackson fan who snapped up my glitzy military jacket.

Of course, holding a yard sale with a couple other girls meant I was going to come home with some new things. I was good, though.

I got this vest from Caitlin, who's worked in thrift stores for the past few years and as a result has an amazing collection. I can't wait for fall so I can wear this with jeans and boots.

Also from Caitlin. I've been on the lookout for a 60s nightie a la pregnant Trudy Campbell for a while now. This isn't quite as cupcakey or pink but it works for me.

Strawberry bag from Aimee. This almost makes me wish I dressed Lolita because it would be the perfect addition to a frilly Sweet Lolita outfit.

headless day

vintage 60s skirt: firegypsy vintage
t-shirt: smart set
necklace: thrifted

This WOULD have been a full-length view of my outfit but I actually ran out of bedroom. My camera was backed up against the wall. It's what I get for living in a narrow boxcar of an apartment.

I just got this skirt in the mail yesterday and I want to live in it now.the pink is much, much brighter IRL. It's like a highlighter!

This dreamy mint green dress is from FireGypsy as well. I'll need to take it to a tailor because it's a little big, and while it looks okay now it would really sing if it fit me perfectly.

melting away

floral cropped pants: thrifted
t-shirt: smart set
loafers: old navy
necklace: vintage

I can't tell if this print is cool 50s retro or old lady on vacation. I will wear them anyway, I guess? If you think pants like this would be too warm for a humid summer day, you would be RIGHT. I nearly melted taking these photos. But I was actually freezing in my air-conditioned office all day. I had to fetch a sweater for the afternoon. I just can't win.

I'm using a weird trick I got from this post a while back. To get a boat-neck in the front and a low back I just... wore a scoopneck t-shirt backwards. I really need to cut the tag out of this shirt if I do it again because it's embarrassing enough when someone points out that your tag is sticking out and your shirt is backwards... even more so when you have to say "I know, I did it on purpose"

dress: old navy
sandals: clarks
bag: thrifted

I probably get more compliments on this Old Navy dress than anything else I own. So much for all that work I put into thrifting and scouting out vintage, lol...

these are old blues

polka dot top: joe fresh
houndstooth shorts: american apparel
bird necklace: thrifted
shoes: thrifted

Imagine how pleased I was when I came across a yard sale this morning and found an old tripod for sale for two bucks! It's seen better days but I mean, it stands up and holds my camera and that's all I need. I also got a remote for my camera last week, look at me go!

no good

70s top: thrifted
belt: thrifted
floral skirt: thrifted
vintage avon bow necklace: thrifted
sandals: clarks

I'm not very good at summer dressing... When I get dressed lately I keep wanting to add all sorts of layers but I can't because it's too friggin warm and I get frustrated.

I also miss my NORMAL FACE wow. I've had acne for the past decade in some shape or form but it's really bad lately and the presence of it is bothering me more than normal. I think I've finally had enough of it. Don't bother giving me suggestions for how to get rid of it because I already fielded this question on Twitter and got no less than TWELVE completely different suggestions.( ._. )

So anyway. Sorry for the bummer post but THERE YOU HAVE IT, the reasons I haven't been posting much lately. I swear, everything other than my face and clothing has been great lately.
