we are never ever ever ever ever

tswifty

I'm kind of rooting for Taylor Swift. I wasn't a fan of how girl-hatey some of her previous songs were but this new one, We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, seems to be a step in the right direction. At least her rage is directed at the right person in this one. She's still catching a lot of criticism for singing about an ex-boyfriend, but... DUDE. It's a POP SONG. That's what pop music is about! Not to mention it's SUPER CATCHY and I will probably sing it at karaoke as soon as it's made available.

I'm also a huge fan of whatever her stylist is doing with her lately. The ponytail and red lipstick combo, all the polka dots and hotpants, the 50s dresses... BIG FAN. The WANEGBT video is full of cute vintage-inspired outfits. Taylor's performing on the VMAs tonight and I can't wait to see what she's wearing.

  1. Taylor Swift's music is a guilty pleasure of mine. I don't have any on my itunes but I do definitely sing along when her songs come on the radio and this one is probably one of her better ones in a while.

I like the styling of this video too! Especially the polka dots.

  3. Mean is a great Taylor Swift song. And she is incredibly philanthropic. The list of projects and charities she funds and supports is impressive. And you're right - her style! I love her red lips and quirky vintage dresses. I've been a style fan for a while.

  4. Haha, oh TSwift. I have complicated feelings. I think she can make quite catchy tunes--I'm a surprisingly big fan of WANEGBT--but I totally agree about being suspect of her girl hate/slut shame-y vibes... I know she's a nutty, stage 5 clinger type irl so her needy songs about boys and breakups always make me laugh and roll my eyes, but I'm not about to judge a lady for stereotypically negative female tropes either. I love her styling lately, too! Bottom line, I think she's a harmless girl, but isn't always my fave. I love pop music, so I'm never too high and mighty about this sort of thing. :)
